SYNOPSIS
gcloud alpha biglake hive tables update (TABLE : --catalog=CATALOG --database=DATABASE) [--columns-from-file=COLUMNS_FROM_FILE] [--description=DESCRIPTION] [--location-uri=LOCATION_URI] [--parameters=[KEY=VALUE,…]] [GCLOUD_WIDE_FLAG]
DESCRIPTION
(ALPHA) Update a BigLake Hive table.
EXAMPLES
To update a table my_table in parent catalog my-catalog and database my-database with a new description and location URI, run:
gcloud alpha biglake hive tables update my_table --database=my-database --catalog=my-catalog --description="New description" --location-uri="gs://my-bucket/my-database/my_table_new_location"

To update columns from a file, run:

gcloud alpha biglake hive tables update my_table --database=my-database --catalog=my-catalog --columns-from-file=columns.yaml

Example columns.yaml:

POSITIONAL ARGUMENTS
Table resource - The Hive Table to update. The arguments in this group can be used to specify the attributes of this resource. (NOTE) Some attributes are not given arguments in this group but can be set in other ways.

To set the project attribute:

  • provide the argument table on the command line with a fully specified name;
  • provide the argument --project on the command line;
  • set the property core/project.

This must be specified.

TABLE
ID of the table or fully qualified identifier for the table.

To set the table attribute:

  • provide the argument table on the command line.

This positional argument must be specified if any of the other arguments in this group are specified.

--catalog=CATALOG
The Hive Catalog for the resource.

To set the catalog attribute:

  • provide the argument table on the command line with a fully specified name;
  • provide the argument --catalog on the command line.
--database=DATABASE
The Hive Database for the resource.

To set the database attribute:

  • provide the argument table on the command line with a fully specified name;
  • provide the argument --database on the command line.
FLAGS
--columns-from-file=COLUMNS_FROM_FILE
Path to a JSON or YAML file containing the new columns list. The format must follow the Hive Metastore specification for FieldSchema list. The list will replace the existing columns.
--description=DESCRIPTION
Description of the Hive table.
--location-uri=LOCATION_URI
The Cloud Storage location path where the table's data will be stored. Format: gs://bucket/path/to/table
--parameters=[KEY=VALUE,…]
Additional parameters associated with the table. Will replace existing parameters.
GCLOUD WIDE FLAGS
These flags are available to all commands: --access-token-file, --account, --billing-project, --configuration, --flags-file, --flatten, --format, --help, --impersonate-service-account, --log-http, --project, --quiet, --trace-token, --user-output-enabled, --verbosity.
