Google Cloud Marketplace includes an AI-powered search experience to help you discover software packages, services, and AI agents for your specific business needs.
This document introduces the conversational AI search experience, how to interact with the AI assistant, and how to understand and refine your search results.
The conversational AI search experience
Unlike conventional keyword search, the AI-powered search experience lets you describe your goals, use cases, or technical problems using natural language. The system then identifies relevant products and provides a summarized explanation of how they meet your requirements.
You can access these features from the search bar on the Cloud Marketplace page in the Google Cloud console.
Search features
The AI-powered search experience includes several key features:
- Instant Search: As you type, the search bar instantly displays autocomplete suggestions, relevant categories, and specific products or partners. You can select an instant match to navigate directly to it.
- AI Overviews: When you run a standard search, an AI Overview summarizes how the marketplace inventory addresses your query. This includes a list of relevant products with links to their details pages, along with a brief description of how each product matches your query. AI Overviews also display follow-up buttons that let you jump directly into AI Mode. You can click View more or View less to expand or collapse the AI Overview description.
- AI Mode: For complex inquiries, you can engage in a conversation in AI Mode. Enter AI Mode by clicking AI Mode in the search bar, clicking Continue the conversation from an AI Overview, or clicking any of the follow-up buttons in an AI Overview. This dedicated interface supports multi-turn conversations, letting you ask successive follow-up questions and refine your search iteratively rather than being limited to a single message per turn.
- Filters: You can refine your search results using the horizontal filters on the search page, such as Category, Type, Price, and Partner. Both the standard search results and AI Overviews respect your active filters.
Interact with the AI assistant
You can search by describing the problem you want to solve, the type of software you need, or the industry you operate in.
Examples of effective queries
For effective results, structure your queries to provide context about your use case or problem.
- Use case-based: "I need a solution to help manage large-scale data migrations to Google Cloud."
- Problem descriptions: "What products can help me secure my Kubernetes clusters against unauthorized access?"
- Attribute-based: "Show me marketing analytics platforms that integrate with BigQuery."
- AI Agents: "Find an AI agent for customer support in the financial industry."
Understand the search results
When you use AI Mode or view an AI Overview, the results include:
- AI-generated summaries: An explanation of how the suggested products address your specific query.
- In-conversation links: Direct links to the suggested products' details pages so you can view pricing and deployment options.
Refine your search
If the initial results don't exactly match your needs, then you can refine your discovery process:
- Ask follow-up questions in a multi-turn conversation: In AI Mode, you can continue the conversation across multiple turns to progressively narrow down the results. For example, you can ask "Which of these are available as a SaaS product?" and follow up with "Show me options from specific partners."
- Use follow-up buttons: To explore related topics or transition directly into AI Mode, click the follow-up buttons that appear as suggestion chips in the AI Overview or in AI Mode.
- Apply horizontal filters: Use the filters on the search page, such as Category, Type, Price, and Partner, to narrow down the results. Both the standard search results and AI Overviews respect your active filters.
