Get started with Gemini Enterprise

This guide describes how to use Gemini Enterprise to help you effectively find and work with company data from a variety of sources.

Chat with the assistant

The assistant is the chat experience on the homepage of Gemini Enterprise. Ask a question in natural language, and it answers using your company's connected data sources, such as Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, Confluence, and Jira. Every answer includes a Sources list, so that you can check where the information came from.

You can also:

  • Ask follow-up questions to refine an answer.
  • Upload a file or type @ to mention a person, document, or agent for context.
  • Summarize and analyze documents, and create images and videos.
  • Draft and edit documents and slides side by side with the chat in Canvas.

Use agents

Gemini Enterprise is a single hub for workplace agents that can automate your workflows and boost productivity. Agents can perform a variety of tasks, from basic, single-step actions to complex workflows that involve multiple steps and data sources.

The Agent Gallery is your central portal to discover, use, and manage agents. You can find prebuilt agents created by Google, agents shared by your organization, and custom agents that you've created. For more information about the Agent Gallery, see Browse agents with Agent Gallery.

You can build custom agents without writing any code.

Agent Designer lets you describe what an agent should do, and then share it with your team or run it on a schedule. See Create agents with Agent Designer.

When to use the assistant, a skill, or an agent

Use the assistant for one-off work, a skill to teach the assistant how you want a recurring task done, and an agent to run a multistep process end to end.

  • Assistant: Use when the request is open-ended or you only need it once, and you can describe the task in the prompt itself. For example, searching company data, summarizing a document, drafting an email, or analyzing a spreadsheet. To start, type directly in the chat box.
  • Skill: Use when you repeat the same domain-specific task and want consistent results without re-explaining the rules each time. A skill is a reusable set of instructions that the assistant applies inside a conversation, such as pulling the latest metrics, rewriting a document to match brand guidelines, reviewing a contract against your standard template, or building a customer pitch deck. To start, type @ followed by the skill's name, ask for the skill by name, or let the assistant select it automatically.
  • Agent: Use for complex, multistep processes that run on their own, interact with other systems, or need to be auditable, scheduled, or long-running. For example, a deal review workflow with approvals, employee onboarding, or a weekly report produced on a schedule. To start, open the Agent Gallery to select an agent.

Use the mobile app

The Gemini Enterprise mobile app lets you access your organization's data, chat with agents, and complete tasks while on the go.

The Gemini Enterprise mobile app offers a number of key features, including:

  • Agent Gallery: After signing in, the home screen serves as a central hub (Agent Gallery) where you can browse and launch available agents.
  • Multimodal input: You can use your device's camera to provide photos as direct context for your query, such as, "Summarize the text on this whiteboard", or upload files from your device.
  • Voice: You can input your query through voice and listen to the response in audio format.

For a full list of the features available to mobile app users, see Use the mobile app.
