Viewer data refresh

Report editors can now allow report viewers to manually refresh report data. When editors enable the new Viewer data refresh option in report settings, viewers can refresh data for a component by right clicking the component, or refresh data for a report by selecting the option in the three-dot menu.

Pro feature: Security and compliance enhancements

The following features are now available to help you meet your organization's security and compliance needs. These features are only available for Data Studio Pro.

• Customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK): Use your own cryptographic keys to protect Data Studio Pro assets.
• Customer-managed storage: Store your file uploads in your own Cloud Storage bucket and your data extracts in your own BigQuery dataset.

Improved chart configuration for series limits and grouping

For Area, Bar, Column, Line, Combo, Pie, Time Series, and Treemap charts, configuration settings for limiting the number of series displayed have moved from the Style tab to a new Display section in the Setup tab of the Properties panel. This new Display section lets you configure Top N or Bottom N series to display and includes the option to aggregate remaining results into a single category. This feature was formerly called "Group others" and is now labeled Group the rest as "Others".

Ads Location Extension fields deprecation

The following location extension fields in the Google Ads and New Search Ads 360 connectors are deprecated and will stop serving data on May 4, 2026:

• Affiliate location address line 1
• Affiliate location address line 2
• Affiliate location business name

Pro feature: Manage sharing policy for assets in team workspaces

In Looker Studio Pro team workspaces, assets such as reports and data sources might not have an individual owner. This can make it difficult to manage sharing permissions for those assets, especially if the person who created the asset leaves your organization.

If an asset is located in a team workspace or folder, a Policy User may be designated for that asset. Looker Studio uses the Policy User's account to determine which organizational sharing policies apply.

Looker Studio Explorer (beta) feature deprecation

The Looker Studio Explorer (beta) feature is being deprecated and will no longer be available.

NO ACTION is required. Existing explorations that were created with the Explorer will be converted to reports automatically.

Breaking

Hyperlinks and images are disabled for data sources that use Viewer's Credentials

When you enable Viewer's Credentials for a data source, Looker Studio won't render hyperlinks or images in dimensions from that data source.

This limitation does not apply if the report creator and the viewer are members of the same team workspace.

Looker connector respects LookML value_format property

When you're using the Looker connector, value formats that you apply using the value_format LookML property will now be displayed in Looker Studio reports. You can view and edit the value format as usual.

Pro feature: The Code Interpreter is now available in Preview

The Code Interpreter in Conversational Analytics is available in Preview for Looker Studio Pro subscriptions. The Code Interpreter translates your natural language questions into Python code and executes that code to provide advanced analysis and visualizations. The Code Interpreter is disabled by default.

New report canvas sizes

Two new preset canvas size options are available, letting you control the width and height of your report on the screen. The new options are size A4, available in portrait or landscape orientations.
